On the Extensions of Frank - Wolfe Theorem

چکیده
In this paper we consider optimization problems de ned by a quadratic objective function and a nite number of quadratic inequality constraints. Given that the objective function is bounded over the feasible set, we present a comprehensive study of the conditions under which the optimal solution set is nonempty, thus extending the so-called Frank-Wolfe theorem. In particular, we rst prove a general continuity result for the solution set de ned by a system of convex quadratic inequalities. This result implies immediately that the optimal solution set of the aforementioned problem is nonempty when all the quadratic functions involved are convex. In the absence of the convexity of the objective function, we give examples showing that the optimal solution set may be empty either when there are two or more convex quadratic constraints, or when the Hessian of the objective function has two or more negative eigenvalues. In the case when there exists only one convex quadratic inequality constraint (together with other linear constraints), or when the constraint functions are all convex quadratic and the objective function is quasi-convex (thus allowing one negative eigenvalue in its Hessian matrix), we prove that the optimal solution set is nonempty.

Some extensions of Darbo's theorem and solutions of integral equations of Hammerstein type
In this brief note, using the technique of measures of noncompactness, we give some extensions of Darbo fixed point theorem. Also we prove an existence result for a quadratic integral equation of Hammerstein type on an unbounded interval in two variables which includes several classes of nonlinear integral equations of Hammerstein type. Furthermore, an example is presented to show the effic...
متن کاملExtensions of the Hestenes-Stiefel and Polak-Ribiere-Polyak conjugate gradient methods with sufficient descent property
Using search directions of a recent class of three--term conjugate gradient methods, modified versions of the Hestenes-Stiefel and Polak-Ribiere-Polyak methods are proposed which satisfy the sufficient descent condition. The methods are shown to be globally convergent when the line search fulfills the (strong) Wolfe conditions. Numerical experiments are done on a set of CUTEr unconstrained opti...
متن کاملOn the compactness property of extensions of first-order G"{o}del logic
We study three kinds of compactness in some variants of G"{o}del logic: compactness, entailment compactness, and approximate entailment compactness. For countable first-order underlying language we use the Henkinconstruction to prove the compactness property of extensions offirst-order g logic enriched by nullary connective or the Baaz'sprojection connective. In the case of uncountable first-orde...
متن کاملA Frank-Wolfe Type Theorem for Convex Polynomial Programs
In 1956, Frank and Wolfe extended the fundamental existence theorem of linear programming by proving that an arbitrary quadratic function f attains its minimum over a nonempty convex polyhedral set X provided f is bounded from below over X . We show that a similar statement holds if f is a convex polynomial and X is the solution set of a system of convex polynomial inequalities. In fact, this r...

In this paper, recurrent neural network is used for path planning in the joint space of the robot with obstacle in the workspace of the robot. To design the neural network, first a performance index has been defined as sum of square of error tracking of final executor. Then, obstacle avoidance scheme is presented based on its space coordinate and its minimum distance between the obstacle and ea...
